Professor Niedziela is a clinical investigator. His main fields of scientific interest are disorders of thyroid, puberty and disorders of sex development. His research projects include investigations on: 1) molecular markers of childhood thyroid nodule/cancer and familial multinodular goiter; 2) genetic causes of rare gonadal and adrenal disorders. Professor Niedziela's work has been published in several scientific journals and two of his clinical papers have been cited in the last "AACE/AME/ETE task force on Thyroid Nodules" (2010)
His clinical practice covers the whole spectrum of pediatric endocrinology with the main interest on thyroid diseases, disorders of sex development, pubertal abnormalities and endocrine oncology. He also has extensive experience in thyroid ultrasound examination. He is actively involved, as a representative of pediatric endocrinology, in setting the Polish guidelines for cancerous thyroid nodules and thyroid disorders during pregnancy. Since 2008, he is actively involved as a tutor in the ESPE Programme to introduce Pediatric Endocrinology to Africa and other developing countries, and also serves as a host for fellows. He is a member of several national, European and International endocrine societies (ESPE, ESE, ETA, The Endocrine Society).
