Professor Carel is a clinician and clinical researcher on the disorders of the gonadotropic axis occurring in infancy, childhood and adolescence. His interest is in the delineation of specific disorders of pubertal development and their mechanisms and in the evaluation of the best therapeutic strategies to promote long term health from an holistic perspective. His research projects include: 1) evaluation of the genetics of hypogonadism, in collaboration with the research laboratory of Dr Nicolas de Roux, 2) evaluation of the short and long term consequences of pubertal disorders on psychosocial development, and 3) evaluation of new therapeutics in the area. Prof. Carel's work on pubertal disorders has been published in leading scientific journals.
His clinical practice covers the spectrum of pediatric and adolescent endocrinology.
