The Pediatric Nephrology Unit is dedicated to provide the highest care to children suffering from a wide range of kidney and/or urinary disorders. These disorders include acute and chronic kidney diseases, kidney malformations, arterial hypertension, urinary tract infection, enuresis, urinary stones diseases, renal genetic diseases, dialysis, and renal transplantation.
Our team provides support to children and their families to help them adjust to the impact of renal disease in their lives and collaborates with pediatric specialists in both clinics and regional hospitals throughout Switzerland.

About the formula: Taking into consideration the importance of estimating GFR in clinical practice, a new Quadratic formula using a gold standard marker for measuring GFR which is Inulin clearance has been developed. This Quadratic formula will allow pediatricians to estimate GFR in children aged between 2 and 18 years with chronic kidney failure (all stages), with normal renal function, or in children with hyperfiltration.

About the formula: Taking into consideration the importance of estimating GFR in clinical practice, a new combined serum creatinine and cystatin C Quadratic formula using a gold standard marker for measuring GFR which is Inulin clearance has been developed. This combined Quadratic formula applicable across all GFR values, will allow pediatricians to accurately estimate GFR in children aged between 2 and 18 years.
