Connectomics lab

Headed by Prof. Patric Hagmann, the connectomics lab of University of Lausanne (UNIL) and Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the research groups of the Department of Radiology.

Our focus

Our lab has several aims.  We develop innovative computational methods to map non-invasively the structural connectivity scaffold of the brain, i.e. the connectome as well as the functional communication that travels on it. For this we use neuroimaging tools such as diffusion MRI, functional BOLD MRI and more recently EEG. For the analysis of such network structured data, we use methods derived from graph theory and machine learning. We believe that connectomics is a particularly suitable framework for investigating the mechanisms involved in neurodevelopment and psychosis and accordingly pursue several studies in such human cohorts. Finally, we also serve as an expert platform for MR connectomics for other research groups interested to use these methods.
