I was born and grew up in Lugano (Ticino, Switzerland). After the classic maturity with ancient Greek and Latin, I studied human Medicine in Bern. I have accomplished my clinical training in Internal Medicine in Lugano, Locarno, and Bern. Afterwards, I learned Hematology in Bern and entered the world of Research in Oklahoma City, with subsequent experiences in Bern (Theodor Kocher Institute) and Strasbourg (Établissement Français du Sang).
At my current working place, the Service and Central Laboratory of Hematology at the University Hospital of Lausanne, I have the privilege to be active in Clinical Hematology, Hematologic Laboratory Diagnostics, Research, and Teaching – working with talented and excellent colleagues.
The current interests of my Research Group are in the fields of “Coagulation” (the diagnostic utility of global thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation assays) and “Platelets” (heparin-induced thrombocytopenia and procoagulant COAT platelets).
