IVF - ICSI

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)

If the spermatozoids are present in insufficient numbers and/or show diminished mobility, the intracytoplasmic sperm injection method (ICSI) is used to avoid fertilisation failure.

This involves selecting a good-quality spermatozoid (coming from an ejaculate or taken from a testicle) and injecting it directly into the egg cell by means of a pipette.

The choice between using IVF or ICSI is discussed with you during the consultation, based on the results of investigations.
