The consultation may begin directly with an exercise stress test. If necessary, a medical consultation may be scheduled prior to this test. A blood test may also be performed, if needed.
If the oversight of a physician is not necessary, our sports science specialists will accompany you during the examination.
The exercise testing typically lasts from 10 to 20 minutes. The total duration of the appointment is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The results are analyzed immediately after the test. The doctor or sports science specialist will discuss the results and the way in which the results can be applied to your training and/or medical care with you at the end of the consultation.
The exercise test is covered by Swiss mandatory health insurance when the test is being done to evaluate you for underlying symptoms (LAMal). Depending on your insurance policy, it may require a prescription by your primary care physician. We welcome non-Swiss residents. Special procedures may apply, please contact our main desk for information.
A performance test is not covered by basic insurance but may be covered by your supplementary insurance (to be checked on a case-by-case basis). The European Society of Cardiology recommends that a resting echocardiogram (ECG) be performed before a maximal test for athletes over 35 years of age and for any person with either cardiac risk factors of symptoms suggestive of underlying heart disease. We can perform the ECG here at the time of exercise testing (50 CHF for individuals without medical indication). If you have a medical certificate stating no contra-indication to physical activity or if you have had this examination within the last 6 months, an ECG prior to exercise testing is not necessary.
