Our department has broad research activities including clinical, basic and translational tasks:
Service of orthopedics and traumatology
Analysis of molecular and cellular mechanisms at bone and cartilage level and study of new joint implants, to develop new strategies for diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases.
Service of rheumatology
Understanding of various rheumatic diseases, to develop new diagnostic tools and treatments.
Service of plastic and hand surgery
Specialized in tissue engineering for skin regeneration and musculoskeletal tissues (Unit of Regenerative Therapy) but also in nerve and blood vessels regeneration.
Sport Medical Center
Working on various themes related to sport (analysis of movement, energy cost in running, evaluation of the risk of overtraining).
Interdisciplinary Center for Bone Deseases
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Bone Diseases has an extensive network of collaborations and partnerships, locally, nationally and internationally. It conducts research projects with more than 50 universities around the world. It thus positions the CHUV as a leader in the research and management of rare bone diseases and complex cases.
